Hollister residence

Location: North Lakeshore Drive, Chapel Hill NC (2000)

This renovation was a very exciting one because the owner was wondering whether it would be better to demolish the house and start new (like many other properties adjacent to this one were doing) or renovate and add to the house. From the perspective of green building, renovating and adding was the answer and we took advantage of the house oriented on the east west axis, with south facing windows facing the lake. Windows were replaced, insulation added on the roof, roof lines changed, entrance was completely redone to offer a more welcoming feeling, materials were changed, HVAC was replaced and landscaping was completed some time later.
